Clinical Referral Directory
The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center accepts referrals for oncology and hematology patients. Whether you want to arrange a consultation, make a referral, get more information about a clinical trial or ask about CME or tumor board opportunities, we're here to help. Please call (615) 936-8422 or 1-877-936-842. You can also refer patients with an online form.
The Physician Liaison Department helps physicians and other healthcare providers in matters of referral, consultative, patient care and continuing medical education. The department also helps providers find other medical center resources. Continuing Medical Education programs are offered as a courtesy to physician groups and hospital staff throughout the region. ONCE Center: The ONCE Center aims to make it as easy as possible to reach providers at Vanderbilt. Physicians or patients can make one call to this center and be efficiently directed and connected to the appropriate physician's office or practice group. The ONCE Center number is (615) 322-3000.
Transfer Center: The Transfer Center helps referring physicians and facilities transfer patients to Vanderbilt quickly and efficiently. It is staffed by an R.N. transfer nurse during regular business hours and LifeFlight EMTs or Paramedics at night and on weekends. The nurse gathers details about the patient and puts the referring physician in touch with the appropriate VUMC physician. Once the transfer is approved, the Transfer Nurse handles the logistics. Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute 24/7 Direct Access: The Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute created a 24/7 Access Program staffed by critical care registered nurses as a service which provides direct access to Vanderbilt Heart & Vascular providers. These nurses assist with the Level 1 Cardiac Emergency System, help to arrange consults and/or interfacility transfers from referring hospitals and coordinate admissions as directed by attending staff in accordance to VUMC policy. Vanderbilt LifeFlight Emergency Medical Transport: LifeFlight's helicopters serve a 150-mile radius around Nashville and are stationed in Lebanon, Tullahoma, Clarksville and Mt. Pleasant. LifeFlight also operates a fixed-wing plane for long-distance transports. LifeFlight can be reached at 1-800-288-8111 or locally at (615) 322-3211
Vanderbilt Imaging: Vanderbilt Imaging offers the best diagnostics available in the region for adults and children. Each of our outpatient centers has state-of-the-art imaging technology managed by experienced technicians and board-certified radiologists. For most procedures, patients can be seen the same day of the referral.
